Parenting Time/Visitation

When parents separate, the court looks at a child's age, safety and past relationship to determine visitation.

Visitation, today referred to as Parenting Time, is a general term that refers to the schedule established by the parents that each party will spend with the minor children. Issues of access and custody interact and overlap, and represent all of the aspects of care and control that parents may exercise in relation to their children.

Parents can agree to use a Parenting Plan, a written plan that details the time each parent will spend with the child and how decisions will be made about the child's upbringing, education, medical and dental care, discipline and more.
